Central Lancashire is a title that describes the administrative areas of Preston, South Ribble and Chorley Councils, and we are working together on the Core Strategy part of our Local Development Frameworks and collaborating on documents that will allocate sites for development and protect sites from development.

Latest News and Events


The three Central Lancashire Authorities - Preston City Council, South Ribble Borough Council and Chorley Borough Council - have now adopted the Central Lancashire Core Strategy. The adoption dates being Preston 5 July 2012; Chorley 17 July 2012 and South Ribble 18 July 2012.

The Adoption Statement, Adopted Core Strategy and associated documents can be viewed here.


The Inspector has now found the Plan sound and his final report and covering letter can be viewed here.This brings the Examination to a close and it is not anticipated that any further correspondence will be entered into. **Following the receipt of representations to the Housing Related Changes the Central Lancshire authorities propose some minor Resumption of Examination Changes (RECs) - corrections and updates only. This document has been added to Section 9 of the Examination Library and can be viewed here.**

Community Infrastructure Levy


The Central Lancashire authorities are working on considering what levy rates should be charged on new built developments as a way of securing funds for infrastructure provision. The first consultation stage on Preliminary Draft Charging Schedules started on 31 January and ended on 31st March 2012. Core Strategy Housing Related Changes


The cosultation period for the proposed Housing Related Changes has now ended. The representations received can be viewed here and in person at the main offices of the District Councils during normal opening hours from Wednesday 18 January.


The hearing sessions for the Independent Examination will formally resume on Tuesday 6 March 2012 at 9.30am.

WHAT'S NEXT?


Other Relevant Plans and Strategies


Following completion of the Examination the Inspector will send his report to the Councils, including any recommendations to amend the Core Strategy before it is adopted. It is envisaged that the Inspector's Report will be received in April and the Core Strategy adopted in July 2012.
